Our Services
General Services
BATHING | Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor – your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Services also include nail trim and ear cleaning. |
BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE | Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We employ trained animal behaviorists who help determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen for the client. |
BIRDS, REPTILES, RABBITS AND SMALL MAMMALS | Veterinary medicine for exotic pets is growing as the popularity of these animals increase. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have a greater chance for living longer and healthier lives. We employ staff veterinarians who possess experience in the care and treatments of exotics. |
BLOOD TRANSFUSION | We have available to us blood for all types of pets in case of emergency. The blood is collected from donor pets through a blood bank. While whole blood is still used, we often use more case specific blood constituents such as packed red blood cell or fresh frozen plasma. We also utilize synthetic oxygen carrying fluids, like Biopure's oxyglobin. |
BOARDING | Pets are like our children – we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and supervised outdoor playtime to keep them happy and active. Our climate controlled, skylit, indoor runs give our guests an extra comfortable housing area. Our feline guests have raised platforms in their living quarters, which look out of picture windows, making their stays more enjoyable. We accommodate all nutritional and medical needs twenty four hours a day. We also permit early check in and late check out any day, including holidays with advanced notice. |
BRONCHOSCOPY | High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination of your pet’s respiratory system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the nasal cavity, trachea and lungs. Coupled with chest radiographs and thoracic ultrasound, we are able to thoroughly assess the entire pulmonary system. |
DAY CARE | Is your pet unhappy or lonely while you're at work? Give your companion the personal attention he or she deserves throughout the day. We offer the same TLC and playtime offered to our longer-term guests. |
DENTAL CARE | Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Advanced dental care is available by referral, including root canals, caps and braces. |
EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE | In any emergency, seconds count. Our experienced staff is backed up by our mobile resuscitation unit, stocked and equipped to administer the ABCs of basic life support – Airway, Breathing, Circulation/Cardiac compressions. Emergency care is offered twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Unlike other facilities, our doctors still take our own emergency calls to better service our patients needs. You will never have to worry about having your pet in an unfamiliar hospital with an unfamiliar staff when it needs us the most. In the event of an emergency, always call the hospital first so our nursing staff can guide you and prepare for your impending arrival! |
ENDOSCOPY | High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery. |
FULLY STOCKED PHARMACY We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field. As a result we can provide for your pets' needs without the inconvenience of trying to locate species specific drugs on your own. Furthermore, any pet products dispensed by our pharmacy are fully backed by their manufacturers, unlike outside drug warehouses.

HOSPICE/EUTHANASIA SERVICES | Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client. House calls are often made for clients and their pets during this most difficult time. |
HOUSE CALLS | Our mobile health unit responds to house calls if you are unable or prefer not to bring your pet to the clinic. West Hills Animal Hospital originally started as strictly a housecall practice in May 1982. True to our roots, we still offer these calls by appointment Monday through Friday. We also offer transportation for your pets to and from our hospital so that they can utilize all of our services when desired or needed. |

We utilize all the most currently effective pain management medications and techniques to keep our patients comfortable. |
RADIOLOGY | Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. With the use of special contrast media, even difficult to visualize lesions can been seen, and proper diagnoses can be made for your pet. |
SPECIALISTS | Sometimes conditions arise that require veterinarians with specialized training. We have maintained an excellent relationship with board certified specialists in every discipline and consultations can be arranged either at our facility or a nearby clinic when necessary. |
SPECIALIZED SURGERY After examination by our veterinarians, if it is determined that your pet requires the services of a surgical specialist, we have a close working relationship with several specialists and can facilitate any arrangements that need to be made for referral. |
SURGERY | We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: a fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care and full blood testing. |
ULTRASOUND | This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. While we perform these studies in our hospital, our sophisticated telemedicine unit allows us to send images to specialists anywhere in the world over the internet. |
